Matt is working out at school, when he hears something. He goes down a few hallways, and stops at a classroom. He opens up the door, he sets off a ton of mouse traps that Bonnie, Elena, Caroline and Tyler were setting for “Senior Prank Night.” Elena heads off to Alaric’s room to super glue his desk shut, but she runs into Klaus who says she’s supposed to be dead.

Katherine and Damon are driving, but Katherine won’t tell him where they are heading…just far enough away that he can’t go back to Mystic Falls. They kiss but he pushes her off and says she doesn’t do it for him anymore.
Stefan wakes up still in the back of Klaus’ truck. Rebecca tells him that Klaus has been breaking Stefan’s neck all afternoon, and they know that Elena is still alive. They fight and she stabs him with a crowbar.
Klaus is pulling Elena along to the gym. Inside a bunch of kids are working on pranks, and he tells them they’ve been busted and prank night is over. He picks a couple and tells them to stay. He tells the girl to lift her leg, and tells the boy to beat her to death if she drops it.
Damon pulls the car over and they get out. He tells her it’s her turn to drive, but then he throws the keys and tells her he’s not going anywhere until he tells her what’s going on. She tells him she has Rebecca’s/Elena’s necklace as leverage against Klaus and then opens the trunk of the car, and inside is Jeremy.
Caroline asks Tyler if Matt is going to be ok, and Tyler says that he thinks Matt is struggling more than he let’s on. Rebecca walks up and tells them she knows who Caroline and Tyler are, and then Caroline and Rebecca charge at each other.
Bonnie and Matt are TPing the school pool. Bonnie tells Matt that she knows about Jeremy seeing Vickie, and Matt says he wishes he could see her. Matt then reminisces about when everyone was normal, but now he’s the only one who still is normal, and he’s not very into senior prank night. He heads off to get more TP.
He grabs a few rolls, and is about to head to the gym when one of the stall doors opens up. On the door is written R.I.P. Vickie Dononvan. Vickie appears and tells Matt she is there and can help him, but he can’t hear her.
The girl in the gym is still struggling to keep her leg up. Bonnie and Matt walk in. Klaus releases the couple from his compulsion, and tells Bonnie she is going to help him fix the problem with the hybrids. Rebecca walks in with Tyler. Klaus takes Tyler and feeds him his blood and then breaks his neck to give Bonnie “motivation” to figure out the solution quickly.

Stefan wakes up with the crowbar still in him, and he pulls it out.
Klaus tells Bonnie they are keeping Elena in the gym “for safe keeping” and Rebecca takes Tyler some where else.
Matt and Bonnie head off to try to figure out the problem. She realizes she can’t contact the dead anymore but Jeremy can.
Katherine tells Damon that there is a way to kill Klaus…she says Pearl knew how and the only other person who knew was her daughter Anna, which means the only way to find out is through Jeremy who has just woken up.
Stefan gets to the gym, and says he’s come to pledge his loyalty to Klaus, and says Elena means nothing to him anymore and he will do whatever Klaus wants. Klaus tells him to kill the couple but then Klasus says he’s lying about not caring about Elena, and compels him to do whatever Klaus says. He then tells Stefan again to kill the couple, and he does.

Bonnie is trying to reach Jeremy but Katherine has his phone. Anna appears and says she’s not helping, because neither of them are friends even if they are trying to stop Klaus. Damon begins to hurt Jeremy and Anna tells them it’s Michael the vampire who hunts vampires, and they would be idiots to wake him.
Caroline wakes up, and Rebecca is waiting. She tells Caroline, Tyler is “deadish” and when he wakes up he’ll be a hybrid. She’s looking through the phictures on Caroline’s phone, and sees Elena is wearing her necklace.
Elena watches as Stefan kills a student the boy. Rebecca comes into the gm and shows Klaus the picture. Elena tells her she doesn’t have the necklace anymore and Rebecca bites her. She tells Klaus that Katherine stole it. He gives Bonnie 20 mintues, and if she doesn’t figure out how to fix it, Stefan is to feed on Elena.
Matt and Bonnie are on the phone, talking about not being able to get ahold of Jeremy. Matt gets back to the weight room and notices his the clothes from his gym bag have been thrown all over the floor. He follows his clothes and it leads to the pool. Vicki tries saying she can help but she needs him to hear her. She kicks his shoe into the pool. He looks down at his phone and sees a text from an unknown number. He calls Bonnie to tell her that Vickie is trying to reach out to him. Matt tells her that if bringing back Jeremy from the dead allowed him to see ghosts, she needs to do the same. She tells him she can’t do that kind of magic, and he says she just has to be good at CPR. He ties a weight to himself and jumps into the pool.

Bonnie runs to get to the pool.
Matt is floating under the water, and she jumps in She swims to him, and unties the weight and pulls him up.
Katherine gives Damon his phone back and tells them that Bonnie has been texting him about Klaus. He decides to go back to Mystic Falls.
Bonnie is trying to resuscitate Matt. Matt sees Vickie and she tells him to give Bonnie a message. He coughs up water and begins breathing again.
There are abort 6 minutes left, and Elena tells Stefan that Caroline’s dad learned to resist compulsion. She then tells him to just feed on her then, but he says he won’t be able to stop once he stops because he is a ripper. She says he will be able to stop because he loves her. He says the more blood he gets the more he wants, and if he starts with her she’ll be dead.

Rebecca watches the countdown on her phone, and Tyler wakes up. Caroline tells him what happened.
Matt tells Bonnie it worked, her message was that Elena shouldn’t have survived, and that the ritual didn’t work because Elean is still alive.
The time runs out, and Stefan tries to fight the compulsion, but he charges at the bleachers and tells Elena to run, and he goes after her. He keeps slamming himself into things to slow himself down, but then Klaus finds Elena.
Stefans breaks a broom and stakes himself. He pulls the stake out fo Stefan, an tires to compel him to turn off his humanity. Stefan shouts no and pushes him back. He shouts “turn it off”, and Elena asks “what did you do” as Stefan stands there…Klaus says “I fixed him”, and then goes over to Elena and pulls her hair back for Stefan. Stefans stands still, and his eyes go dark, and then he charges at Elena.

Klaus comes in and tells Tyler to feed on Elena’s blood to see if it’ll work now. Tyler drinks the blood out of a vial and rolls on the floor in pain. He looks up with yellow eyes and fangs, and Klaus says “Well that’s a good sign.”
Elena wakes up in the hospital. They are taking her blood, and the nurse says, “Of course it’s very important for your friend Klaus.” The nurse then knocks her out with a drug.
Rebecca says the issue was not the doppleganger not being dead, but it’s her blood that allows for the transaction. She realizes that his obsession with hybrids, is about Klaus not wanting to be alone. He tells he to go get the truck and he’ll get Elena. Damon shows up, and Klaus is about to kill him, when he tells Klaus he knows where Michael is and that’s his leverage. Klaus throws him against a car and disappears.
Damon gets to Elena’s room, and pulls the IV out of her. He stares at the blood in the IV, and then Elena wakes up. He pulls her out of bed and carries her outside.
Tyler and Caroline walk down the hall hand in hand, and Tyler says everything is “just better” and it’s a rush being a hybrid. They kiss, and he says “this is going to be an amazing year.” They hug but Caroline has a worried look on her face.
Bonnie finds Matt and asks if he’s ready to leave. She tells him what he did was reckless and stupid. He says he knows, but it worked so it’s worth it. He tells her he’ll leave in a minute after he has a chance to say goodbye to Vickie. He thinks Bonnie is behind him and begins to say he won’t do anything stupid, but he turns around and Vickie is standing there and he can see her.
Damon and Elena are back at his place. He offers to compel her to forget what happened, but she says she needs to remember all of it. He gives her back her necklace, and she says “he’s (Stefan) really gone this time.” Damon promises her he’ll never leave again. Stefan then walks in, still under Klaus’ compulsion to turn off his humanity, and says Klaus is gone, but he’s going to be watching Elena, from now on she is under his protection. He walks off…
Jeremy and Katherine walk up to a the tomb Micheal is supposed to be inside of. She pushes it open, and Michael opens his eyes…it’s the man who came into Gloria’s bar in the 20s shooting wooden bullets…
