Thoughts:
This episode was probably one of my favorites for the whole series. I loved seeing so many characters that we haven’t seen for a long time come back, and I love that each one was given such a strong emotional reason for being back. I feel like the audience could really feel the loss each character felt as they lost their loved ones again. My favorite moment was probably between Anna and her mom.
Stefan’s storyline still really bothers me…I’ve said before that it’s really going to take a lot to redeem his character. Since most of this is his choice, I still just can’t see how the audience can learn to like his character again, and see him as a good person. I really don’t understand how Elena could ever love him again after all that he’s done as Ripper either. I would understand her not wanting to give up on trying to bring him back to the person he was, but to say that she still loves him doesn’t make sense to me. I was happy to hear her admit that she doesn’t plan to wait for him forever, but I just don’t see why she is waiting at all. I know they had a strong, romantic relationship, but a lot has changed since he became Ripper.
