We see flashes of Barney and Robin leading up to them sleeping together. After, Robin starts to panic for cheating, and Barney said they both cheated, and feels awful as well. She asks if it means anything, but they say it meant nothing, and they decide they can’t say anything to Kevin or Nora. They are all supposed to go on a work cruise the next day, and Robin says it’s a 3 hour boat ride and they just need to pretend nothing happened.
Ted has tickets to Groovapalooza, and he also has a bag of “sandwiches”, and Marshall and Lily say they need to pass…though Marshall isn’t to thrilled about having to pass on it.
They get to the show, and Ted tells Marshall they need to eat the “sandwich” before Lily shows up.
The cruise is about to start, and Sandy walks up to Robin, and says “you’re welcome.” But Robin doesn’t know why.
Future Ted says Sandy would always host the cruise but never had to pay because he would use product placement during news casts.
Marshall is now very high, and begins to feel paranoid about Lily finding out. Ted can’t remember what they are talking about but says it’ll be fine and then Lily shows up.
The cruise begins, and Barney is freaking out. Kevin thinks he’s nervous about meeting Nora’s parents the next day.
Lily finds out that Marshall is high, but she isn’t too upset about it as long as she gets Nachos. So Ted and Marshall go to get them.
Barney and Robin hear the song they are dancing to as a song about cheating and needing to tell their significant others.
Barney and Robin decide they need to tell Kevin and Nora what happened.
Marshall and Ted are waiting in line for the nachos, but then realize they are in line for the ladies room. They get out of line, and then realize they walked around the whole arena.
Marshall imagines that a man next to Lily offers her his nachos and says Marshall has been gone for an hour. Lily says it makes her question Marshall as a father, and then makes out with the man…Marshall snaps out of his daydream and asks a guitar player where the nachos are, but he doesn’t answer.
Sandy continues to hit on the intern, and she attempts to throw her drink at him, but it hits Kevin. Robin tells Barney Kevin got a concussion and she didn’t think it was appropriate to tell him, and Barney says Nora had a stain on her sleeve, so he didn’t tell her either.
The guitar guy follows Ted and Marshall and they run screaming, but end up back at their gate again. They think they find the nacho line again, but it’s the line for the ladies room again.
Robin says she wishes the previous night hadn’t happened, but Barney says he doesn’t, and asks her if maybe this is the story of how the got back together. Robin says she’s a mess and he says she’s almost as messed up as he is and that’s why he likes her. Barney says after they dock they can do what they need to do and meet at the bar at midnight to talk about their relationship.
Ted and Marshall end up at their gate again, and Ted says he’s just going back to his seat. Marshall thinks he found the line again and end ups in line at the ladies room again.
Robin goes to the hospital with Kevin, and he tells her he loves her.
Barney and Nora get back to the apartment, and Nora’s parents are at the apartment early, and Robin and Barney both say they should have told Nora and Kevin on the boat.
Ted comes across the guitar guy again, and he asks Ted where Marshall is, and the man offers him his nachos so it doesn’t hurt his friendship with Marshall.
Nora’s parents are getting to know Barney and the things they tell Barney about finding the one you want to be with, and he can’t help but think about Robin.
Marshall is still in line when the guitar man see’s him and falls over grabbing his heart. Ted finds Marshall and shows him the nachos and they go to head back inside, but the show is over.
Ted and Marshall are sitting outside their seating area and Lily comes out and tells them they’ve only been gone two minutes…the guitar guy was a cardboard cutout, Ted got the nachos out of the garbage, and they didn’t miss the concert.
Ted, Marshall and Lily get to the bar, and Barney tells them he broke up with Nora. Robin walks in with Kevin…we see that Kevin told Robin she doesn’t need to tell him the bad thing she did, because he doesn’t need to know every detail of her past. She asks him why he likes her, and he says he loves everything she does.
Robin looks over at Barney and shakes her head no. Barney leaves…
Ted gets back to the apartment, and looks in Robins bedroom, where Barney is cleaning up what he set up to be a romantic night for he and Robin.
This is the first time I’ve actually rooted for Barney and Robin. Up until now I wasn’t really buying them as a couple, but this episode convinced me it could work for them. While this was another episode that wasn’t very funny, I really liked the relationship drama set up in it. However, I don’t feel it was right that Robin didn’t tell Kevin…though he told her she doesn’t need to tell him, I think she still would be obligated to say something. It’ll be interesting to see how the relationships will progress from here, but I’m anticipating Barney and Robin being revealed as the couple getting married by the end of the season.
